NASA/Goddard Visualizations

Satellite Mission Visualizations

Since 2006 – 2014 the IRC has partnered with NASA/Goddard to visualize upcoming satellite missions for earth and solar system scientific explorations. This partnership gave recent UMBC graduates a post-baccalaureate opportunity to work in the IRC on professional projects. The IRC partnered with mission scientists and NASA TV producers to understand the scope of the project and how to best visually represent the mission highlights in high-definition animation.

The IRC has produced visualizations for the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), Venus Sounder for Planetary Exploration (Vesper), Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission (MAVEN), Earth Climate and Atmospheric Research Satellite (GLORY), and the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Project (NPP). More information on each of these efforts is available on the IRC Blog or by following the links.

Following is an example of the animation produced for NASA by the IRC.
