Video Wall Test Demonstration for BWI Airport

Design for a video wall showing the same places in Baltimore, 2 centuries apart.

In 2016 the IRC was approached by the Maryland Aviation Administration and Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington Airport to demonstrate and test content on a possible large video wall (8×12’) that would be installed in the new connector between terminals D and E. The content would showcase Arts and Cultural landmarks in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The resulting test video was declared a success and the IRC was asked to submit a full budget to produce a video template, design guidelines, and 30 minutes of content. The video wall was ultimately not produced because of potential security issues at the location where it would have been installed. Nonetheless, production of this kind is always a learning experience. Students gained new knowledge in filmmaking and animation, and the IRC continued to expand our ability to render very large-resolution video and distribute it across networked displays.
